The National film award for best actress as known as Rajat kamal Award for Best Actress is an honour presented annually at the National film Award since 1968 to an actress for the best performance in leading role within the Indian film industry.winners of the national film award receives a Rajat Kamal (Silver Lotus),certificate and a cash prize that amounted 50000/-.the first recipient was Nurgis Dutt for her best performance in "Rat aur Din"the actress who won the more number of Rajat Kamal is Shabana Azmi.As of 2016 five actress-Smita Patil,Archana,Shobhana,Tabbu and Kangana Ranaut have won the awards to time.
